As rules are steadily changing from state to state, it’s each Notary’s duty to stay current on the laws and how they impact the notary and their clients. Where some fail is by breezing through the prerequisites to become a notary or signing agent and feeling as if they can just ‘wing’ from that point going forward. This kind of thinking comes with a price and a decline in good reputation.

Notaries are not attorneys but that doesn’t mean that we should not take our designations as seriously as an attorney would. In this field, notaries will come across all sorts of clients.
Some of which may be just as knowledgeable as the notary which is why it’s important to continue your notary education throughout your journey. No client wants to do business with a notary who is unaware of the bylaws. Some clients may not verbalize this. Instead, they may not become a customer.
